Welcome to the Reiki Guild of South Africa. We are so excited to have you as a part of our community.

The question to start an additional association has been raised many times over the years, however it was always something I personally resisted investing in, as my clients and students were my top priority. However, once I started connecting with many other practitioners and teachers from all over South Africa, the desire for an association which was all inclusive became more and more apparent. There is a need for practitioners and teachers, regardless of lineage or affiliation, to have a place to connect. Together with an amazing team of people, the idea of The Reiki Guild was born. We chose the word guild because it means “an association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal” which couldn’t be more fitting as to our purpose.

Our aim is to make the Guild a truly interactive space where knowledge, resources and news is shared. We believe that everyone has something to offer, and we are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive platform for all members. We hope that you will feel comfortable sharing your skills and talents with us, and that you will find a sense of belonging and community.

We have a lot of exciting things planned for the coming year, and we hope that you will be a part of it. We will be hosting a variety of events, including zoom seminars, and hopefully in the future, Reiki Share days and In Person get togethers. We will also be offering a variety of resources, for both practitioners and teachers, as well as the general public.

We encourage you to get involved and to make yourself known. We are always looking for new ideas and new ways to improve. We hope that you will feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and suggestions with us.

My journey with Reiki started years ago when I attended my very first session. I was immediately drawn to the practice and felt a deep passion for it. The profound sense of relaxation it provided left a lasting impact on my mind, body, and spirit, and I’ve been interested in it ever since.

After years of reflection, I pursued USUI SHIKI RYOHO REIKI (Western Reiki).

I enrolled in January 2018 at Angels Touch, a renowned holistic healing practice and school in Johannesburg. The comprehensive 16-week course included Energy Healing, Reiki 1, Reiki 2, and Reiki 3A – Advanced Course.

On May 27th, 2018, I successfully completed the course and obtained all the necessary certifications to become a Reiki Advanced Practitioner. I realised late last year that my true passion lay in healing, which led me to establish Lo-Tus Reiki. Since then, I have also successfully completed the International Karuna Reiki®1 & 2 Course on May 7th, 2023 and received all the necessary certifications to become a registered Karuna Reiki®1 & 2 practitioner.

We are very happy to announce, that our very first social initiative has been booked. We have been asked by The Compassion Center (NPO 220-638 ) to be part of their annual Queer Spirtuality and Wellness Annual Conference in November- their theme for 2023 is “Self Healing”. Angela Whitehouse from Angels Touch will be giving the keynote speech on the evening of Friday 10th Nov and we will be hosting free sessions for attendees on Saturday 11th Nov from 11am – 4pm. We are calling for all practitioners in the Johannesburg and Pretoria areas to volunteer some of their time on that Saturday, in order to spread the wonder of reiki. I’m Natasja, a Reiki Master practitioner and teacher based in the Garden Route. But I wasn’t always a Reiki practitioner. After leaving High School in 1997, I trained as a Legal Secretary and worked at international law firms in Cape Town and London. In early 2020 I finally I stood up for myself regarding a toxic situation at work that had been brewing for many months. The act of speaking up gave me the confidence, and the push, I needed to start working towards a career change and ultimately becoming a Reiki Master. I obtained my Reiki Third Degree (Master level) in both the Usui Shiki Ryôhô (Western) and Usui Reiki Ryôhô (Japanese) lineages under Reiki Master Torsten A. Lange of the Reiki Academy London. I had no idea what a respected and well-known Reiki Master Torsten was when I enrolled in his course, or that I would be part of a Reiki lineage that include people like Frans Steine and Penelope Quest – I still thank my lucky stars for that one! Then, in 2022 my husband and I returned to South Africa after 17 years in London, where I now work full-time as Reiki Master practitioner and teacher. Torsten Lange always told us “Reiki brings about change, and the change is always positive”. Well, my life is a testament to that. I gave up on my life in the UK after 17 years, but boy was it a positive change because I now get to use Reiki every day to spread hope and healing.

I’ve been connected to the spiritual community and directly working with energy healing for many years. After 9 years living in South Africa, I had an urge to connect to Reiki and to search for a Master. This is how Angela Whitehouse and I crossed paths. I did the 3 levels of Reiki, currently doing the master’s and learned many other techniques with Angela. Angels Touch teachings and community became family, a way of life. One of the techniques that I took on is Colour Therapy, a practice that brings light and guidance to anyone who seeks it. Since March 2023 I came out of the closet and became a practitioner in the holistic clinic – Skin and Body Fitness. Here we breathe Reiki principles and ethics in everything we do. Sane body, mind, and soul.

Energy healing is a blessing and a gift that we all have within us. Our intuition, together with a trusting mindset and loving beliefs proves this. I specifically work with Aura Alignment, Reiki, and Spiritual Therapy. As our Master say: our intention is to do good, to be light.
